Auto Expo, the country's largest automotive exhibition, which is held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi every two years will no longer be held in the national capital. The organisers are of the view that the scale of the event has become too big for Delhi and hence they plan to take it to Greater Noida. Earlier this year, the auto expo was widely criticised for mismanagement and hence it is believed that changing the venue may overcome the problems faced in 2012.

Talking about it, a senior official of the organising committee said, “We have decided to move the expo away from Pragati Maidan... it is getting way too chaotic to manage an event of this scale there." He further added, "We have also moved the event from January to February so that it does not clash with other global automotive shows. In 2014, the auto expo will be held at Greater Noida expo mart."

Until now, Delhi has served as the venue for India's largest auto show, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

The shift in venue would mean that people visiting the event would largely decrease. The auto show in 2010 attracted a record 1.8 million people, the largest in the world. However, this year, the figures dropped drastically to 700,000. Though, it is not possible to predict the exact figures, industry experts are of the opinion that the auto show to be held in 2014 at Greater Noida would see a further dip in the number of people visiting the event.
