Japanese car maker Nissan launched a limited edition of its much popular model Micra, which is called the X-Shift. This variant was launched at a price of Rs. 6.67 lakh, showing intent by the automaker in terms of competition. Notably, the limited edition version is based on XL trim level of the Nissan Micra. The firm has gone ahead to launch X-Shift on account of the five-year anniversary of the Micra model, which has a presence in the entire globe. Only 750 units of the Nissan Micra X-Shift will be produced and sold.
Nissan has added a large number of features in the Micra X-Shift to qualify the limited edition connotation. Speaking about the car, President of Nissan India Operations, Guillaume Sicard, said, "The demand for automatic cars has risen to over 3.5 per cent in the last two years from less than 1 per cent in FY12. Nissan is a pioneer when it comes to Xtronic CVT Technology and with the introduction of the XL grade in our CVT range; we aim to make this technology more accessible to our buyers."
The new features added by Nissan in this car are Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), driver’s arm rest and new steering wheel. Experts believe that the limited edition version is likely to do well due to its large number of security features.
