Audi India has silently launched the Audi R8 LMX with laser headlamps in the Indian car market. Priced at Rs. 2.97 crore, ex-showroom Mumbai/Delhi, the R8 LMX is the country’s first ever production car to feature laser headlamps. BMW India's upcoming pulg-in hybrid sportscar, the i8, will be the second car in India to get the laser headlamps.
The Audi R8 LMX production is limited to 99 vehicles globally and is the most powerful series production R8. It is propelled by a 5.2-litre V10 engine that churns out a maximum power output of 570bhp and a peak torque of 540Nm. This model accelerates to 100kmph from standstill in mere 3.4 seconds and hits a top speed of 320kmph. Power is transmitted to all-wheels via a seven-speed S Tronic gearbox.
The exteriors of the Audi R8 LMX features new laser high beam headlamps and fixed rear spoiler. The vehicle is also offered in an exclusive Ara Blue paint. Inside the cabin, the supercar is bestowed with carbon fibre, Nappa leather and Alcantara, limited edition number, and contrasting stitches in Ara Blue and Sepang Blue colours. The laser headlamps get activated at speeds over 60kmph, which offers lighting twice the range in comparison to all LED headlamps. The headlamp features one laser diode, which comprises of four laser diodes.
