Various Japan-based automobile companies are making efforts to infuse life into the Tokyo Motor Show. Known as one of Asia's premier auto industry event once, the Tokyo Motor Show has been out of focus, owing to much bigger shows in Beijing and Shanghai.

Moreover, the global financial crisis left a negative impact on the international show in 2009, where almost every automobile multinational decided not to participate. However, this year's event is expected to witness influential global players like BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Land Rover, Jaguar, Audi and Porsche.

German car giants, Volkswagen and BMW are planning a number of global launches; however, the domestic companies are expected to rule the show.

Toyota Motor Corporation is planning to showcase its Aqua compact hybrid, which will be called Prius C in the United States. An iQ-based electric car and a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle will be seen at the Toyota stand during the event. Furthermore, a highly awaited sports car that is developed in collaboration with Subaru will also be unveiled.

Another major Japanese car maker, Honda Motors has a lot in store for car enthusiasts at the event. The company has lined-up its AC-X or Advanced Cruiser Experience and two other concepts that will probably enter markets around 2020. Honda AC-X will be a wedge-shaped plug-in hybrid that draws its inspiration from the Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle, in terms of styling.

The PX-MIEV II from Mitsubishi, which is a close-to-market version of the Outlander hybrid crossover, is also making its debut at the show. Moreover, the car brand has also planned the launch of the production version of its hatchback model Mirage.

The fast growing automobile company, Nissan Motors has two debuts for the event; Nissan Pivo3 and a full-size van called Nissan NV350. The Nissan NV350, expected to go on sale in Japan during next summer, is a larger form of the company's NV200 van, which enters the American market in 2013.

Thus, leading Japanese auto brands are making sure that this year's Tokyo Motor Show does not disappoint car users looking forward to it.
