Tata Motors owned British car maker Jaguar Land Rover is set to showcase the new addition to its much popular Range Rover line-up in the year 2016, reports have claimed. Yet to be given a name, this Range Rover is expected to be a seven-seater crossover expected to feature a body similar to Evoque model alongside a radiator intake. The British car maker will take curtains off this model in 2016 and it is likely to be a sibling to the much-appreciated Jaguar F-Pace crossover vehicle. Only difference being that the new model will come with a longer wheelbase and will be a seven seater.

As of now, no information has been provided by the firm in terms of the car’s mechanical configuration but a report by Autocar suggests that entry-level variants of the model will be fitted with JLR’s Ingenium engines. Also, the all-wheel drive versions of this car are expected to be launched with V6 engines.

The Range Rover series has a wide variety of vehicles, which cater to different needs of customers. While the flagship model is based on luxury, the Evoque is a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) meant for the city and Sport is based on excellent dynamics on the road. Thereby, analysts feel that the fourth vehicle in this line-up is likely to be a fusion of luxury and SUV, which offers both space and luxury to passengers.

Some reports claim that the new crossover will also be the base model for the launch of the first ever electric vehicle to be introduced by Land Rover and will run on the engine fitted in F-Pace EV. Analysts suggest that Land Rover will only target selling the EV in cities like Shanghai, New York and Beijing, in order to compete with the likes of Tesla X.
