About Tesla
Tesla, Inc. is an American electric car manufacturer that was established in the year 2003 by Marc Tarpenning and Martin Eberhard. The first vehicle to roll out from the production line in 2008 was an all-electric sportscar, Roadster which was capable to travel an unheard range of over 390km on a single charge. It could also reach a top speed of 200kmph. The year 2008 also witnessed the departure of its founders with Elon Musk taking over as the CEO of Tesla.
The Roadster was instantly popular and was sold worldwide in almost 30 countries. Since then, the portfolio of Tesla comprises of the Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y. It also has two more vehicles in the pipeline – Semi and Cybertruck.
Talking about Tesla’s India operations, the company has registered itself by the name ‘Tesla India Motors and Energy Pvt Ltd’ with the ROC, Bengaluru. It is also in talks with four to five state governments to set up its research and development facility in the country. Tesla is likely to commence its operations in India in the coming months and the first product to be offered to the Indian buyers could be the Model 3.
