      Jaguar F-TYPE offered to buyers in Chennai for Rs. 1.4 crore

      Tata Motors owned British luxury brand Jaguar is adding more muscle to its inventory of sports cars with its latest addition being F-TYPE, which was recently launched at an event in Chennai. The vehicle was first showcased at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and later on came to India for its scheduled launch on 10th of August 2013. Jaguar's latest offering F-TYPE happens to be a convertible two-door sports car, which thrives on power and performance. The launch of a new model joins the bandwagon of Jaguar's sports car X-KR, which is available in coupe and convertible versions.

      On the eve of launch event, Rohit Suri, the Vice President of Jaguar and Land Rover India was quoted as saying, “I am delighted to introduce the Jaguar F-TYPE in Chennai. Since its recent introduction to the Indian market, this two seater sports car has received a phenomenal response from its customers and prospects and we believe that it will be a game changer for the Indian sports car market. With its stunning design and driver focused engineering, this car will further enhance the appeal of our brand in the state of Tamil Nadu.”

      interestingly, F-TYPE is available in two models namely F TYPE S and F TYPE V8S. The former variant is powered by the 3.0-litre V6 supercharged petrol engine while the latter gets a 5.0 litre V8 supercharged petrol engine. The the 3.0-litre V6 engine pumps out a peak power output of 374 bhp, while the 5.0 litre V8 powertrain churns out a maximum power of 488 bhp. The car has been specifically tuned to offer a great performance with F TYPE S attaining a speed of 100 kmph in an impressive time of 4.9 seconds. In addition, the other model F TYPE V8S can reach speed from 0 to 100 in just 4.3 seconds. The Jaguar F-TYPE S is priced at Rs. 1.4 crore (ex-showroom Chennai) while its F-TYPE V8S version carries a price tag of Rs. 1.6 crore (ex-showroom Chennai).

      The design of F-TYPE is mainly based on its C-X16 concept car and a major reason for its development has been the interest shown by Tata Chairman, Ratan Tata who wanted its brand Jaguar to make inroads in the super car segment, which was earlier not practised by the manufacturer. In the Indian car market, the model is said to compete with the likes of Aston Martin Vantage and Porsche 911.

      Meanwhile, Jaguar registered a growth in sales by 68 per cent during the first quarter of the current financial year as compared to the year ago period. As told by the company, the main catalyst for stirring this increased sales has been its 2.2-litre XF variant, which is assembled in India, priced an at aggressive rate of Rs. 44.5 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).
