      Hyundai Xcent compact sedan coming in March

      The Indian arm of South Korean auto maker, Hyundai, is expected to launch much awaited compact sedan Xcent in March 2014. WithXcent, Hyundai will foray in the sub-four meter sedan.

      Xcent is said to be conceived on the Grand i10 platform and is expected to take design cues from the hatchback. Hyundai Xcent is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options, the petrol variant is likely to get a 1.2 litre Kappa2 petrol engine and the diesel version is said to be packed with a 1.1 litre U2 diesel motor. Xcent could come with both manual and automatic transmissions.

      Hyundai could bestow the new Xcent compact sedan with a string of features like rear AC vents, smart key with push button start, rear parking camera with sensors, 15 inches diamond cut alloy wheels, 2 DIN audio with USB, CD player with 1 GB internal memory, auto folding mirrors, electro-chromic mirror ad one-touch electric trunk opening. A capacious boot will also be offered for ample storage space. Among the safety features, Xcent is likely to come with dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), rear parking assist, rear defogger and central locking.

      The new entrant from Hyundai in the compact sedan segment will pose threat to the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire and Honda Amaze. The two cars from MSI and Honda respectively are already doing well in India, thanks to the competitive price and a host of features that customers are being offered with. Compact sedan segment in India will soon get many new entrants as various auto makers are developing compact sedans.
