Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), a unit of the Korean auto giant Hyundai, is expecting a marginal increase in its sales in the year 2012 as against units sold in the last calendar year. The company plans to launch a new version of its premium sedan Sonata and Elantra in the current year, both of which will be blessed with the firm’s new Fluidic Design Language.

Speaking about the company’s strategy and expectations in the current year, Mr. Arvind Saxena, director of sales & marketing, Hyundai Motor India, said, “The year has started-off on the right note, and the wholesale numbers of the month of January indicate improved sales. But, one cannot judge the whole year, by what has been witnessed in the first two months, which usually are ‘high sales’ months. Moreover, the volumes were down in the second half of 2011 and hence one has to wait for some more time to assess the sales prospects for this year.”

Hyundai is currently the second largest car maker and largest car export in the Indian market. In year 2011, the company sold a total of 3.73 lakh units of its cars in the Indian market. In the current year, the firm looks forward to take its annual sales to 3.9 lakh - 4 lakh units, with a surge of up to 7 percent. On the exports front, the company has similar aims and plans to register a marginal increase over last year’s 2.25 lakh units.
