The Indian subsidiary of the US based leading car maker Ford Motors on Tuesday launched an automatic transmission version of its popular mid-size sedan Fiesta in the in the Indian market. The Ford Fiesta automatic is available in only petrol version and has been shelved in the price segment of Rs 8.99 lakh and Rs 9.70 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the car in the National Capital, Mr. Michael Boneham, Ford India President and MD said, "The all new Fiesta power shift automatic will further open up this segment. This new variant comes with a very affordable pricing and better fuel efficiency than the manual one."
The launch of new Fiesta Automatic is a part of company’s future portfolio expansion plans, in which it will be rolling-out as many as 8 new car models in the Indian market over the period of next four years. The addition of new Fiesta Automatic in the line of Fiesta sedan will further strengthen the position of the model in the Indian car market, enabling the car to compete more promptly with its rivals like Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Volkswagen Vento, Fiat Linea, Skoda Rapid and Nissan Sunny.
The manual version of the Ford fiesta is available in both petrol and diesel versions in the country, in the price segment of Rs 8.25 lakh to Rs 9.44 lakh and Rs 9.28 lakh to Rs 10.43 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.
