      Hyundai Motor sales figures surge by 4.9 percent, exports decline by 4.3 percent in April 2012

      Hyundai Motor India Limited, the Indian subsidiary of the South Korean auto maker, has disclosed a shoot up of 4.9 percent in its sales volume in the financial report for the month of April 2012. The company’s total sales, including exports, this April were recorded at 52,057 units in comparison to the 54,606 units sold in the corresponding month in 2011.

      The country’s second largest car maker has revealed that its domestic sales jumped from 31,636 units sold in April 2011 to 35,070 units sale scored in April this year marking a surge of 10.9 percent. However, the auto giant’s exports plunged down to 19,536 units from 20,421 units during the period under review, showcasing a dip of 4.3 percent.

      Among the company’s foray into several segment, the sales of its hatchback segment commanded greater stake with an impressive sale of 44,891 units comprising of i20, i10, Eon and Santro. Following the trajectory is the A3 segment that encompasses the Hyundai Verna and Accent scoring a sale of 9579 units.

      Mr. Arvind Saxena, the Director (Marketing & Sales), Hyundai Motor India Limited said in a statement that the present market conditions are highly challenging coupled with the less favorable consumer response and hike in excise duties pronounced with the release of the Union Budget while the reduction in interest rates are yet to be actualized.
