Indian subsidiary of the Korea originated car maker, Hyundai Motor Company is all set to launch its hatchback model, Hyundai Eon. The company has decided to launch Eon during the festive season in October. After launching Hyundai Santro more than ten years ago, Hyundai Eon is the new entry level hatchback from the company. Hyundai has competitively priced its new model, with the price expected to fall in the bracket of Rs. 2.50 lacs to Rs. 3.80 lacs, in the Indian car market.

The compact car is expected to challenge the market of Maruti Alto and Chevrolet Spark, with a reasonable pricing strategy. Hyundai Eon will be locking horns with Maruti Alto, which has dominated the hatchback segment for seven years. Maruti Alto is available in the price range of Rs.2.46 lacs and Rs. 3.45 lacs. Buyers have been given several alternatives to choose from the hatchbacks available in the Indian car market today.

The continuously increasing number of choices in hatchbacks cars has led to the launch of competitively priced new models like Hyundai Eon. The same was confirmed with the launch of Honda Brio, which also comes with a price tag of Rs. 3.95 lacs in India. The competitively priced model has been launched, to confront the likes of Tata Nano and Ford Figo.

With so many choices of small cars available to the Indian buyers, the challenge is to stand out from the crowd. Hyundai has tried to do the same by not only introducing its new model, Eon, but offering it with a competitive price to give an edge, with a distinct exterior look doing the icing on the cake. The new Hyundai Eon's design philosophy is based on Hyundai Verna Fluidic structure.

Furthermore, commenting about Hyundai Eon, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, H.W. Park said, “Hyundai is committed to offer products with advanced technology to the Indian market. All our products confirm to global quality standards. We are confident that the EON will set a new benchmark in the Indian market with regard to styling, performance, safety and convenience. The car will provide the best-in-class design, quality and technology to our customers.”

The best-in-class car in terms of technology, luxury, performance and safety, Eon will be available at a reasonable price, making the compact car, a major threat to other models in the market. Chevrolet Spark, another potential competitor to Hyundai Eon, is known for its peppy designing and competitive cost. However, experts suggest that Hyundai Eon will be one of those models that will beat even Chevrolet Spark in terms of exterior style. Moreover, Chevrolet Spark cost ranges from Rs. 3.09 lacs to Rs. 4.46 lacs which is much higher from the expected price of Hyundai Eon.

It is important to note that the current economic conditions are not in the favour of automobile companies in India today. With inflated fuel prices and raging bank interest rates, consumers are refraining to purchase vehicles involving high cost. Therefore, Hyundai Eon’s attractive pricing is likely to grab attention of Indian buyers looking for reasonably priced good quality hatchbacks.
