The South Korean auto giant, Hyundai Motor Company that claims to be one of the fastest growing multinational automakers across the globe has bagged the title of "Car of the Year" for the year 2012 for its most successful compact sedan, Elantra. The annual awards event, South African Guild of Motoring Journalists was held at grand Gallagher Estate in Midrand sponsored by WesBank.
The award winner is the Elantra’s 1.8 GLS variant that is sold by the automaker in the name of Avante in South Africa, North America and Europe. The sedan symbolizes elegant design, swift driving dynamics with best in class interiors and technology.
Mr. Ross further said, “It is also recognition of the quality and emotional appeal that the Hyundai products have developed as part of the brand’s ‘Modern Premium’ strategy.”
The beginning of 2012 saw the crowning of the Hyundai Elantra with the prestigious North American Car of the Year award at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show along with an award honoured at the Canadian Car of the Year event.
Hyundai Elantra has set a record by becoming the first made in Korea car to win this title. Also, the car is making rounds in many globally renowned auto magazines being mentioned in their list of Best Buys for the year 2012.
