      The Datsun brand which had been inactive for nearly 3 decades is now ready for a re-launch with the Go hatchback planned by Nissan. It is anticipated that the upcoming hatchback shall create a new image for the Datsun brand in the local market. On the other hand, until now Micra was the only hatchback offered by Nissan for the Indian market. The car boasts of interesting features like the Push Button Start. Coming from almost the same automotive manufacturer, Go seems share some resemblance with Nissan. Nissan has made strong claims about the cars in terms of quality construct and efficient engine.

      Nissan Micra has won the prestigious “2010 Small Car of the Year” award for the petrol variant. This hatchback is powered by 1.2 litre HR12 engine, dual over head camshaft. The 3-cylinder 12 valve in-line petrol mill has the capacity to displace close to 1198cc. Nissan Micra XV CVT features a unique power train churn out a maximum power output of 74.48Bhp at 6000 Rpm in combination with a peak torque output of 104Nm at 4000 Rpm. The engine has been mated to a 5-Speed manual transmission gear box and has been designed to deliver simplified gear shifts. For safety, the car features antilock braking system with EBD and brake assist. Furthermore, the front occupants in the car are secured with airbags.

      As per reports, the Datson Go hatchback shall be powered by a 1.2 litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, whereas a diesel version is anticipated to be launched at a later unreleased date. Sources have stated that series production of the first Datsun model for the local soil, the Datsun Go, would begin in India on the 4th of February at the Renault-Nissan joint venture Oragadam plant in Chennai. Other than Nissan Micra XV, the car is also expected to compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto, Hyundai Eon and Maruti Suzuki Celerio.

      Post the 2014 Auto Expo event, it would be fun to see which Nissan machine eats up the other, or whether both these cars do well in the Indian market.
