Stop and go traffic in metropolitan cities shall no longer be a pain with the recently showcased Activa 125 from Honda at the 2014 Auto Expo event. Keita Muramatsu, HMSI President and CEO, said, “Honda is going to establish a fourth facility to produce scooters in India. The plant will be set up in Ahmedabad and have a capacity of 1.2 million units.”

As per sources, the new 125 cc Activa may feature force air-cooled and single-pot engine, complimented with variator-controlled automatic transmission technology. Moreover, the HET technology that has been specifically designed to reduce the overall engine friction, is retained by the new version. Owing to HET technology the current line of 110 cc Activa and Activa-i variant has been delivering an impressive mileage of around 60 kmpl.
On the designing front, the scooter features sharply cut turn indicators and headlamps. Extra body bulk has been cut down to gain some aerodynamic advantage. The tail lights and bigger and eye catching than the previous version. The production version may also come with an option for disc brakes. The powerful Activa is expected to make its debut in the Indian market sometime in 2015. Pricing for the Activa 125 has not been stated by the Japanese auto biggie and may be revealed once official launch date has been set.
