      Honda raises 3 crore INR for Relief Work in Kashmir Natural Calamity

      Do you know what happens when a natural disaster happens to the paradise on earth? The same thing that happens to everything else. This year was by far among the worst of the century for the people living in the mesmerising terrains of Kashmir as it was hit by one of the most disastrous floods that the zone has ever faced. Life has been totally disrupted in this region and the catastrophe has taken the entire region decades back in time. Such has been the extent of the damage that the entire region is reeling under its aftermath even almost three weeks after the disaster occurred.

      In these circumstances the people have shared an unusual bonding amongst themselves just to hold each other’s hand in an attempt to get back to normal life. In a wonderful incident of humanity, when the prisons of most of the Kashmir police stations were submerged, both the cops and the inmates spent days on the rooftops inn harmony. Several NGOs and other organisations have reached out a helping hand to bring back the region to the normal state of affairs. Recently, group companies of the Honda Motor Company have announced that they will contribute a sum of 3 crore INR towards the relief and recovery efforts for the people of Kashmir. The money will be utilised to provide refuge and rehabilitation for the people of Kashmir who have been rendered homeless by this disastrous flood and landslide, which took place earlier this month.

      Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, the President and CEO, Honda Motor India and Managing Officer, Honda Motor Co. commented about the severe disaster. He said, “We express condolences and deepest sympathy to all the affected people who lost their near and dear ones, their homes and their livelihoods in this massive calamity. We hope that this contribution will help in restoration of the devastated infrastructure and help rebuild lives of the affected people.”

      Honda has a number of group companies in India – Honda Motor India Pvt Ltd, Honda R&D Pvt Ltd, Honda Siel Power Products Ltd, Honda Cars India Ltd and Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd. All the groups have done their best to raise funds for the recovery mission in Kashmir.

      Honda
