Honda Siel Cars India Limited (HSCIL), a joint venture between Japanese Honda Motors and Indian Siel Limited, is all set to export its latest offering – compact car Brio – to the neighboring markets like Nepal and Bhutan. The car is being manufactured at the company’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, from where it plans to export the car. The exports of the car will commence from January next year.

Honda India already exports few essential components of Brio from the Indian market to the markets like Indonesia and Malaysia. The Honda Brio was launched in the Indian market last week with a starting price tag of Rs 3.95 lakh. The Brio model is competing with the likes of Chevrolet Beat, Toyota Etios Liva, Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai i10.

While speaking to the reporters at the occasion of the launch of new Honda Brio hatchback in Hyderabad on Tuesday, Seki Inaba, HSCI director (marketing), said, “We are looking to achieve localization of Brio from the present level of 80 per cent to 90 per cent by the end of this fiscal. This would bring down the cost of production. However, it doesn’t mean we will reduce the price.”

The Rajasthan based plant of the firm has an installed capacity of 1,00,000 units, which is expected to be fully utilized by the company by the end of first quarter of next year.
