Honda India has not revealed the exact number of cars that have been damaged at the plant which is capable of producing about 1.2 Lakh cars annually. It is said that company has been seeking expert advice on the crisis situation. Sources who have managed to gain inputs from company insiders have said that about 4,000 or more vehicles may have been damaged. The paint fumes from the adjoining plants cause spots to be formed on cars, especially on plastic and chrome components. The damage can also be seen on vehicle's roof top.

A company's spokesperson said to sources, “A batch of our cars parked in the CBU yard of our Greater Noida plant sustained some minor paint spots due to a painting activity in a neighboring plant of another company. We are in the process of ensuring the necessary rectification, including change of parts wherever required, to maintain HCIL's stringent product quality standards.” The company shall rectify the damage before dispatching it to customers.
