A long road trip is the aim of every bike enthusiast out there. Riding the bike on curvy roads of Ladakh, or passing the white Ran of Kutch on these is a dream come true. And if the bike is one by Harley-Davidson, there can be nothing better. A similar event was organised by Harley-Davidson on June 27 and 28, where thousands of Harley-Davidson bike owners and riders drove for 11,966,614 miles. This event, called as the Harley-Davidson World Ride invited thousands of Harley owners and riders to go riding solo or in groups through various terrains all over the world. A few of these rides were led by dealers while a few others were individually organised. The net run was summed up which added to a total of about a whopping 12 million miles.
The highest number of miles came from places like Saudi Arabia, Canada, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Brazil, India, United States, Mexico, etc. After the bikers completed their ride, they shared their mileage log directly to the World Wide Web Record Site, along with posting their images and stories on social media sites including Twitter and Facebook with the hashtag, #HDWorldRide. The event received a huge success that couldn’t have been anticipated by anyone. All the participants also received a downloadable certificate after they entered the number of miles they drove on the road.
Pallavi Singh, Director Marketing of Harley-Davidson India stated that the Harley-Davidson World Ride seemed to be an expression of freedom, so powerful that thousands of riders all over the world merged to express themselves through this event. She also added that such a huge response showcases the relation that Harley-Davidson maintains with its riders and the riders with the company all over the world. It is evident that Harley-Davidson respects their bike owners to a great extent. The company has always focussed in organising such events on a time-to-time basis so that the relation of the riders with the company could be refurbished quite often.
