      GM India hopes to witness a rise in sales in upcoming festive season

      After registering flat sales growth in last 8 months, the Indian unit of the US based auto giant General Motors is hopeful of sales witnessing an upward trend in the upcoming festive season.

      Speaking to the reporters in the National Capital, Mr. P Balendran, General Motors Vice- President (Corporate Affairs), said, "We are expecting an incremental growth of five to ten per cent during the festive season." He added, "The industry is expected to grow by six to eight per cent and we will also have the same growth. As of now from January to August our sales have remained flat."

      Mr. Balendran was speaking on the sidelines of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) annual convocation.

      General Motors India registered a sales decline of 17 percent to 7,510 units in August 2012, as compared to the sales witnessed in the same month previous year.

      Meanwhile, the company is ready to launch the hatchback and sedan versions of their much awaited Sail model in the Indian market by the end of October 2012.
