      Maruti hope to operate on full worker strength at Manesar plant by this year end

      The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has said that it is expecting their Manesar based manufacturing plant to operate with full worker strength by the end of this year. It is to be mentioned here that the company has recently resumed the production at this plant with only a tenth of their earlier workforce, after keeping the plant shutdown for more than a month.

      Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) annual convention in the National Capital, Chief Operating Officer (Supply Chain) at MSIL, S Maitra said, "The regularization of contract workers and new recruitments are going on and this will be over in the next 10 days. By the last week of September, our total manpower will be in place at Manesar plant."

      Before the break-out of violence at their Manesar plant on July 18th, the company had a total workforce of 3,300 workers. Following the deadly violence in which more than 100 people got injured and one HR manager of the company lost his life. More than 500 workers were suspended by the company after the violence.
