The Ghibli is the best-selling vehicle in the history of Maserati with over 70,000 cars delivered since 2013. However, it has been around for years without any major update up until now. The updated model has been showcased at the ongoing Frankfurt Auto Show 2017.

      New Maserati Ghibli unveiled

The new Ghibli can be distinguished from the old model due to the chrome treatment up front. The iconic Maserati grille is now done in chrome and there are additional chrome inserts on the bumper vents. The rear bumper gets a blink-and-miss update. Maserati claims that the design tweaks have improved the aerodynamic efficiency of the new Ghibli by seven per cent, reducing the drag coefficient to 0.29 from 0.31.

The new Ghibli gets adaptive full-LED headlights with glare free ‘matrix high-beam’. Maserati has also fitted it with new ADAS (active driver assistance systems). The Modena-based carmaker says that this driver assist system will allow the carmaker ‘to enter the world of autonomous driving’.

The interior and the mechanicals remain unchanged. Under the hood, you still get two engine options. The 3-litre turbocharged V6 petrol and diesel engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Besides the Ghibli, Maserati is also showcasing the Levante, the Quattroporte and the Granturismo range in Frankfurt.
