      Four new Jaguar models to be launched till 2018

      Jaguar, the British multinational owned by Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Indian Tata Motors, has plans to launch four new cars in the coming five years in order to widen their portfolio. As of now, sources have revealed that a compact saloon codenamed X760 and a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) codenamed X761 are nearing release. A coupe version and an estate version is also being planned for the unveiling by 2018. Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director of the company told media that Jaguar Land Rover has plans to develop the most advanced efficient and refined cars in the compact saloon segment. He added that it is not going to be just good but better than the benchmark models available in the world.

      First to release in the line-up is the X760 codenamed compact saloon, which is expected to lead in terms of technology, refinement and efficiency in its respective segment. It is going to target several models like BMW 3 Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4 in a manner. The company is planning to implement the best technology in this compact saloon so as to make it pioneer among its rivals. Sources close to the development process have revealed that the compact saloon that has been codenamed X760 is expected to launch as Jaguar XS. Thereafter, an SUV codenamed X761 is expected to come out in the market. The British auto maker would bring out an SUV codenamed X761, which is expected to compete against the likes of BMW X3 and X4. The concept version of X761 was released sometime back and received positive response from customers and critics, alike.

      The firm is expecting to cash in sales figures of 50,000 units from its upcoming Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) model. Jaguar Land Rover is planning to save on a lot of weight by introducing an all-aluminium chassis that would help it take on lead in the weight specifications among its competitors. Also, a rear wheel drive running gear is expected to be implemented in the new models so that definite handling characteristics can be provided. Engines offered in the upcoming models would be designed by Jaguar Land Rover and are believed to be better, efficient, economical and performance oriented. Industry experts are of a view that at least 5 per cent of the market segment is occupied by compact saloon and estate models.

      This would lead to the sales of around 80,000 units as compared to the total market share that equals to 1.3 million units. If the sales of upcoming SUV lands as per expectations, the total would definitely reach 1,30,000 units per year. During the same time, Jaguar Land Rover is also expected to launch the new Range Rover Evoque XL, which is said to record around 80,000 units a year. This estimate would lead to a combined annual output of more than 2,00,000 units per annum manufactured from the Solihull production facility of Jaguar Land Rover. It must be noted that the auto maker recently launched F-Type and upgraded its model XF-R and has claimed to roll out V6 and V8 engines as well as hybrid engines in the coming future, which clearly indicates its aggressive plans for the near future.
