The two-wheeler division of Honda, the renowned Japanese automobile manufacturer, is going from strength to strength in India. After registering good sales figures in the recent past, it is gearing up to launch some of its best models in the Indian market. According to reports, Honda has gone ahead and is planning to introduce the CBR300R for the international market. The Japanese company, according to reports, has made an announcement that this model will replace the CBR250R. This model, according to sources, is going to be produced in Thailand and will be sold in all markets where CBR250R has been offered. The unveiling of this stunning looking motorcycle was done at the China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor) that is currently going on in Chongqing.

Sources suggest that Honda would be targeting China initially as the demand for performance bikes in the world's most populous country is rising quite fast. Seiji Kuraishi, Chief Operating Officer for Honda in China, said, “Honda is exhibiting the world premiere of the CBR300R, a global motorcycle model for which Honda is planning to begin production in the future.” Industry experts feel that the addition of this bike to the portfolio is likely to boost its prospects on the global stage. Honda has made a dedicated effort to design the CBR300R uniquely, in order to make it look different than the CBR250R. It is being said that there are only a few similarities between CBR250R and CBR300R.

Expected to attract buyers who want a solid and powerful bike, Honda CBR300R has twin headlights, which are largely inspired from models like Fireblade. Experts feel that replacing CBR250R with CBR300R seems like a rational and sensible decision, given the minimal 50 cc difference between them. Reports have drawn a parallel between the decisions of Honda and Kawasaki as the latter did the same thing when it substituted Ninja 250R with Ninja 300. According to reports, Honda CBR300R is powered by an engine with a displacement of 300 cc. This drivetrain is capable of generating an output of 30 bhp along with peak torque of 25 Nm. Sources close to the development claim that the motor used in this model is same as the one used in Honda CBR250R.

However, a few changes have been made to this unit so as to increase its displacement. One significant change that Honda plans to bring in the replacement model of CBR250R is a reduction in the weight. Experts feel that if the weight is reduced, performance of the bike will automatically get enhanced. Industry experts feel that it would be interesting to monitor the strategy that Honda adopts regarding the pricing of Honda CBR300R. It is being said that if Honda prices the new model similar to that of the CBR250R, the firm is likely to record excellent sales figures. Reports claim that Honda CBR300R will come in two variants, namely Standard and ABS. As of now, Honda has not mentioned any of its plans to introduce this new model in the Indian market. However, the scope for sports bike in India has been increasing for a while now and it would not be surprising if the new model makes its way to the country in coming years.
