Ford has displayed its new Everest Concept SUV at the ongoing Bangkok Motor Show. Everest is conceived on Ranger SUV, however what differentiates former from latter is an enhanced wheelbase and a spring rear coil. The American auto maker plans to manufacture Everest at its Rayong plant where it also manufactures Ranger. Everest will come with a capacity to seat seven adults comfortably inside. Everest was developed and designed by Ford Australia, the vehicle made its debut at the ‘Go Further’ event in Sydney last year.

The company then had claimed to begin production of Everest in coming two years, therefore we expect the SUV to be launched by next year. In India Ford Everest is sold by the name of Endeavour as a completely knocked down unit. Ford India sources Everest aka Endeavour from its Thailand facility and it is likely that its decedent will also be routed to India via CKD.

Everest was previously aimed at ASEAN markets only, however at the Bangkok Motor Show, company officials confirmed that it will also be made available in other overseas markets. At the recently held 12thAuto Expo, Ford India had displayed facelifted version of Endeavour which could be offered by the company any time soon prior to launching Everest. Endeavor has been available for sale in India for quite some time, the SUV have been garnering low sales for last few months. In order to survive amid tough competition in the form of Toyota Fortuner, Chevrolet Captiva and Mitsubishi Pajero, Endeavour needs to offer something new and hence it is necessary for the SUV to undergo an upgrade.
