Riding high on the success of its new compact SUV, EcoSport, Ford India has announced re-opening of bookings for the popular SUV. The overwhelming response received for EcoSport resulted in long waiting periods stretching up to six months for certain variants. This led to a temporary halt in bookings for the SUV in India. However with the bookings opened again for the contemporary SUV, it seems that the company has almost cleared the backlog. Company officials have revealed that over 50,000 units of EcoSport have been delivered by now, significantly reducing the waiting period for the SUV.
In a short span of time, EcoSport has managed to match levels with strong contenders in the SUV segment including Duster and Scorpio. Available in both petrol and diesel variants, EcoSport is offered with two petrol and one diesel engine. The petrol variants are powered by a 1.5 litre engine and highly acclaimed 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine. Petrol trims of the SUV return a decent fuel economy of 18.88 kmpl. Diesel trims of EcoSport come equipped with a 1.5 litre diesel powertrain capable of delivering a high fuel economy of 22.67 kms in a litre.
