Customers looking out to drive home a new compact SUV this festive season need not wait any longer as Ford has launched the New EcoSport with enhanced power, performance, appeal and features in India. The vehicle is offered at a starting price tag of Rs 679,563 (ex-showroom Delhi). The company has also introduced a new Trend+ variant as well. Speaking more on the occasion, Nigel Harris, president and managing director, Ford India, said, “With more than 200,000 proud owners and counting, Ford EcoSport has successfully created a benchmark and continues to be received extremely well for its quality and value package across the globe. Ahead of the festive season, we have made our clever, compact SUV even more stylish with a host of smart features and enhanced power to delight consumers.”
The new Ecosport is powered by 1.5L TDCi diesel engine that generates an enhanced power output of about 99Bhp. The engine mated to five-speed manual transmission reportedly also returns an impressive mileage figure of about 22.27km/l. On the other hand, the petrol trim gets a 1.5L TiVCT petrol engine that delivers 109bhp of power and returns a decent fuel efficiency of about 15.85 Km/L. In terms of safety, the compact SUV gets a body structure that is made up from a combination of high-strength steel and ultra-high-strength steel. The vehicle offers up to six airbags for an enhanced level of protection for the driver and as well passengers.
In terms of features the Ecosport compact SUV gets automatic headlamps, signature light guide, daytime running lights, electro-chromic mirror, rain sensing wipers along with a wide range of other intuitive new features. As for the interiors, it gets chrome treatment on inner door handles, cluster ring and cluster applique, window regulator switches and air register tabs. Apart from the comfortable and plush leather seats, the handbrake lever and steering wheel also get generous amount of leather.
The vehicle also gets Emergency Assistance feature that uses SYNC and a Bluetooth-paired phone to call emergency responders automatically and provide information about your vehicle and location. In India, AppLink allows drivers to access information about nearby attractions and food destinations with Explore by MapMyIndia and stay updated with the latest cricket scores and upcoming fixtures with ESPN Cricinfo. The new model is available in interesting shades of Mars Red, Diamond White, Panther Black, Kinetic Blue, Moondust Silver, Chill Metallic and Smoke Grey.
