After the Abarth 595 Competizione, Fiat India is all set to launch Abarth version of the Punto hatchback on October 19, 2015. Dealers across India have already started taking bookings for the hot-hatch at a token amount of Rs. 50,000. Set to rival the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI, the Fiat Abarth Punto will be manufactured at the company’s Ranjangaon facility. Fiat Abarth Punto 2

Powering the Abarth Punto will be a 1.4-litre T-Jet turbocharged petrol engine that will deliver a whooping power of 145bhp. The same powertrain, tuned for 140bhp, will also be used for the upcoming Abarth Avventura. Mated with a five-speed manual transmission, it will accelerate 0-100km/h in 8.8 seconds, and return 16.3km/l of mileage. Fiat has also reduced the Abarth Punto’s ride height by 20mm.

The Abarth Punto looks sportier than the regular Punto model. It will feature Abarth badges, secondary air dams, front grille with contrast horizontal slats, ORVMs in contrast shade and a well-designed rear. The car is assembled with 16-inches dual tone alloy wheels wrapped with 195/55 R16 Apollo tyres. Inside, the hot-hatch features new seat upholstery with contrast yellow stitching that add more to its sporty appeal. It also gets machined pedals and Abarth badge on steering wheel.

As far as safety features are concerned, the Abarth Punto will offer seven airbags protection - dual-stage driver and passenger bags, side bags window bags and driver knee bags. Features like anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), hill-start assist control, electronic stability programme (ESP) and hydraulic brake assistance will also be on offer.
