      Fiat Abarth 595 Competizione teased; India launch in July 2015

      Fiat has revealed a teaser image of its next car - the Abarth 595 Competizione - on its official website ahead of its launch in India. Unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, the car was expected to launch in early 2015, but it kept getting delayed.

      The Abarth 595 Competizione will be brought via CBU route in limited units in the country. Unlike the regular Abarth 500, it features a low front bumper with graphite insert and ‘Abarth scorpion badge instead of the signature Fiat badge. Other styling elements are - a sunroof, side body decals, sports seas, a roof mounted spoiler, twin exhausts and sporty rear bumper. The performance-oriented hatchback sits on special 17-inches alloy wheels wrapped with Pirelli PZero 205/40 rubbers. To improve the car’s aerodynamics, Fiat has reduced its height by 105mm.

      The car is equipped with advanced safety features such as ABS (anti-lock braking system), EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), ESD (electronic slip differential, torque transfer control, seven airbags etc.

      Powering the Abarth 595 Competizione is a 1.4-litre MultiAir turbo petrol engine that churns out a maximum power of 158bhp at 5, 500rpm with 201Nm of peak torque at 2, 750rpm, while running in ‘Normal’ mode. In ‘Sports’ mode, the engine torque output can be increased up to 230Nm. Set to rival against the Mini Cooper S, the Abarth 595 Competizione is expected to be priced within the range of 26 lakh – Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
