The wait for SUV-lovers across the country is finally over. It has been reported that the new Ford Endeavour is expected to hit the dealerships in India by the month of August 2015. This new upgraded version of the Ford SUV is expected to be the greatest rival for the Fortuner from Toyota, which has dominated the market till now. Ford might price this car aggressively, because of few names in the industry. It is expected that the entry-level model will be priced around Rs 18-20 lakhs.
It is expected that the 2015 model of Endeavour will come with two diesel engines. The base model will be offered with a 2.2-litre mill, which generates a maximum power of 157 bhp at 3200 rpm. The higher model will have a bigger 3.2-litre Duratorq mill, which can generate 197 bhp at 3000 rpm. While the smaller engine generates a twisting force of 385 Nm between 1600 to 2500 rpm, the larger mill generates 400 Nm with torque between 1750 to 2500 rpm. The lesser powered mill will be given a six-speed manual while the larger one will come with an automatic six-speed transmission system. Power will be sent to the rear wheels only in the smaller, while the larger one will come with a Four-Wheel Drive system. Also added will be the lockable rear diff and Terrain Management. The suspension has been slightly changed in the new model. The new model will come with Watts link rear suspension along with curled springs, replacing front suspension and the anti-roll bar.
The new variant features LED DRLS, 18-inch alloy wheels with 265/60 tyres, a halogen projector lamp along with auto function, rear and front fog lights and a rear spoiler along with integrated brake light. The new Endeavour comes with auto dimming rear view mirror, dual zone HVAC, leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with gear knob, rain sensing wipers, one-touch operation. Infotainment system in the car has been improved by a significant margin with AUX/USB/MP3/CD/Radio slot as well as Bluetooth connectivity.
Safety aspects have also been enhanced in the car. It has been provided with ABS along with EBD, Hill Launch Assist, Electronic Stability Program, RSC rollover protection and Traction Control. Also present are ISOFIX, Key Immobiliser, Reverse parking sensors and dual front airbags.
Endeavour is also available on a global scale and comes with a Panoramic Sunroof, eight-way power adjustable seats both for driver and front passenger, power-operated third row seats, ambient lighting with seven colour options and LED illumination. Endeavour is expected to be imported in the country in CKD format and will be assembled here.
