Excitement builds as launch of BMW Z4 Roadster nears

Munich-based auto giant BMW has been pretty active in the second half of 2013 as it has already introduced 1 Series and upgraded 5 Series models. Now, according to reports, BMW is set to launch the much awaited Z4 Roadster in India on 14th of November. Z4 Roadster has achieved a lot of acclaim internationally as critics have praised it for things like style, power and technology.

This two-seater sports car has received a number of upgrades, which have been done to make the entire package more attractive. Sources claim that a minor facelift has been given to the new BMW Z4 Roadster along with the short overhangs and a stretched out bonnet. Experts believe that the redone bonnet is going to be the USP of this model and will attract a high number of buyers. Bonnet of Z4 Roadster stands out due to its length and curvature, meeting the beginning of the hood.

Another striking feature that might be added to this superb machine is the kidney grille. This model is likely to come with a foldable roof made of aluminium, which has a retraction time of only 20 seconds, which is quite impressive. Other key components expected to feature in this car are leather upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, bi-xenon headlights and seats with power adjustment.

Technology is one of the mainstays of BMW, something that has propelled the German firm to great heights. Z4 Roadster is considered among the best products that have come out of a BMW manufacturing facility. Needless to say, this model is expected to be right up there in terms of technology. It is likely to come with attributes like dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, rain sensing wipers and heated mirrors.

The in-built music system is likely to come with support for HD Radio, AUX-in and USB. Interestingly, BMW is expected to offer a colour option for the roof, something that is not so common. Interiors of this car are anticipated to be quite stylish and classy with inclusion of gloss black air conditioning vent and centre console with anthracite wood finish looking likely. For complete safety, BMW is expected to incorporate this model with airbags, top-class braking system and dynamic stability control.

This car comes in three variants in the international market, which includes two versions with 3-litre engines and one having a 2-litre unit. As far as Indian market is concerned, it is likely that BMW will offer the sDrive35i variant. This version of Z4 Roadster is going to be powered by a three-litre engine that delivers a maximum output of around 302 bhp along with peak torque of 400 Nm. This engine is going to mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Nothing has been said regarding the price of BMW Z4 Roadster but rumours suggest that it could be priced around Rs. 70 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched in India, it will compete with the likes of Audi TT, Mercedes-Benz SLK and Porsche Boxter.

Luxury car makers are really stepping up the ante in India by going on a widespread launching spree. 2013 has been an excellent year for companies that produce luxury vehicles in India as they have recorded good sales figures, month after month. The year has been particularly good for German firms Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW as they have introduced a number of models. Mercedes-Benz has staged a remarkable comeback in India as models like A-Class, B-Class and E-Class have, virtually, taken the market by storm. On the other hand, Audi, the brand with four rings, recently reported a growth in sales of around 18 per cent in October, statistics have claimed.
