Cars and movies currently share a strong bond as the interdependence on each other has increased significantly with changing trends and preferences among the audiences world over. High-speed car chases have been the soul of innumerable action films in the past, wherein filmmakers invest whole-heartedly for the purpose of perfecting such scenes.

The most recent examples that confirm the filmmakers' inclination towards cars are that of Don 2 and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. The two action-packed thrillers have counted on car chase sequences in order to boost up the magnitude of viewers at the box office.

As a matter of fact, Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra starrer Bollywood film Don 2 is expected to give an all-new definition to car chase scenes showcased on the 70mm screen. A pulse booster car chase sequence has been filmed in Berlin that includes 67 cars, of which 10 were imported from Korea. During the picturisation of the scene, twenty-three cars were destroyed.

Co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani said, “It’s one of Bollywood’s biggest car chases and took us three weeks to film. We zipped down freeways, skyways and tunnels, past several of Berlin’s iconic landmarks, cars exploding along the way. We cordoned off many streets, including Brandenburg Gate that houses the US and Russian consulate and the central bank for a few hours in the morning for the climax shots. I don’t think any film has been given permission to do this before.”

Car chases have also worked wonders for Mission Impossible 4 that has been released lately in India with much hype. The film that stars Tom Cruise managed to pull the masses with its power-packed action scenes that included agile car chases, featuring the BMW's futuristic cars. The fight scene that was filmed at an automated parking garage gives an adrenaline rush to the viewers with high-speed cars raising the bars for the film considerably.

According to film critics, the MI franchise has carved a niche in action sequences primarily because it has fed the masses with best car chases. There is another car chase scene that has been picturised in a raging dust storm and adds much flavour to its thrilling storyline.

Other than the hybrid electric BMW i8 model, Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol  showcased the fully electric BMW i3 concept and various BMW i models that irrefutably add further class to the film. As a matter of fact, these models have been unwrapped officially by the President of BMW, Ludwig Willisch at the widely acclaimed Los Angeles Auto Show in 2011.

Thus, both Bollywood and Hollywood have featured mind-bending car chase scenes in their flicks and eventually raised viewers' expectations, along with gaining immense popularity much before they hit the screens.
