The Datsun brand under the Nissan guidance has been steadily progressing in the Indian market. Mr. Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan India had announced plans that the company may launch the third Datsun model sometime in late first quarter of 2016. For now the vehicle has been codenamed as Datsun I2 and is expected to make its debut in the upcoming 2016 Auto Expo event.
The vehicle is believed to be based on Renault-Nissan alliance CMF-A platform. The vehicle has also been known as Redi-Go in the concept form. Under the hood, the vehicle is expected to be powered by a 0.8-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that would be capable of producing about 57Bhp of power with a peak torque output of about 130 Nm. More details about the vehicle shall be known at a later date. It is anticipated that the vehicle would be offered at a price tag under Rs. 5.0 Lakh.
