The stylish Redigo has been a considerable contributor to overall Datsun sales in the country. Set to complete one year in the country in June 2017, the automaker is likely to launch a 1.0-litre engine and an AMT variant in the country. Sharing the mechanical technology with Renault’s Kwid, the new variants will not get fresh design upgrades except for a possibility of new body graphics being offered as seen in the Kwid 1.0-litre.

The Datsun Redigo will be powered by a 1.0-litre three cylinder SCe petrol engine that generates 67bhp of power and 91Nm of torque. The bigger engine variant comes mated to five speed manual transmission and an optional five-speed AMT unit. However, owing to cost restraints, the Redigo might get a conventional gearstick instead of a rotary dial pattern. Datsun may offer the 1.0-litre variant only in top-spec S variant.

The new variants will not get any significant upgrades to the interior and may continue to be offered with features as seen in the current spec model. As for the pricing aspect, we expect it Datsun to charge an additional Rs 30,000 – Rs 40,000 on the current pricing. More details about the new variants will be known in the coming months.
