This will necessitate us to add another shift, which will enable us to ramp up production from 4,00,000 to 4,80,000 units per annum.” Apart from production, the President of Nissan India Operations, and Managing Director and CEO of Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL), also stated a requirement for further investment in the country that would be required to increase the production capacity to usher in the Datsun Go+ sometime soon.

As per reports, GO+ shall be powered by Nissan’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine which generates about 68 PS of power and 104 Nm of peak torque. The MPV shall be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Moreover, overall kerb weight of the car is a good 794 kgs that makes it faster and efficient than the rest in this segment. Furthermore, it is also one of the lightest MPVs that has been put up for sale in India. There are certain excise duty benefits that come with cars in the sub-4m bracket, and Datsun Go+ with an overall length of 3995 mm makes it befitting in this category. The pricing for this MPV shall also be well within the competitive range to draw a swarm of interested buyers.

At a recent event, Mr. Yomura said, “The company could have done much better in India than what it has achieved so far. But things will soon change as volumes are set to go up with the launch of Terrano late last year and Datsun GO last month and new models. The company is revamping its product portfolio. This will see Nissan introduce an upgraded Sunny sedan possibly by middle of the year and Datsun Go Plus in the second half this year. We will also be launching a totally redone utility vehicle Nisan Evalia before the end of the year. The revamped Evalia is based on extensive customer feedback.”
