      D3Variants Finally Launched by Volvo Auto India

      Volvo Auto India, the renowned automobile giant has launched the existing luxury compact SUV XC60, premium sedan S60 and luxury sedan S80 with powerful 5-cyliner turbo D3 diesel engine. Pricing the models competitively, the company expects to make these affordable for the Indian buyers.

      The new S80, S60, and XC60 will carry a price tag of Rs. 31.99 lacs, Rs. 23.99 lacs and Rs. 33.99 lacs respectively (Ex-Showroom Delhi). D3 variants of S80, S60, and XC60 have been designed exclusively to deliver power output of 163 hp and torque of 400 Nm.

      The S60 variant will deliver mileage of 18.5 kmpl; whereas the S80 variant is expected to have a fuel economy of 17.8 kmpl. However, mileage of the XC60 will be 14.7 kmpl. With immediate effect, the cars with D3 Kinetic engine will be available at all Volvo dealerships across the country.

      Keeping the promise of strengthening its product portfolio, Mr. Tomas Ernberg, Managing Director, Volvo Auto India said, “In light of changing customer and market dynamics, Volvo has launched its most successful global models in the last two years for the Indian customers. Launch of D3 variants reiterates our long-term commitment of a more human-oriented approach called ‘Designed Around You’, where we continue making safe, technologically-advanced and Scandinavian designed cars around customers.”

      With a shorter stroke and reduced displacement, the D3 engines will make driving easy and pleasurable. It will also result in maximum fuel economy thereby enhancing the overall productivity. Piezoelectric fuel injector of the injection system of D3 engine differs from the D5 engine. With fast and accurate injection pulses under heavy pressure, the injectors reduce the fuel consumption. Further, the CO2 emission of the engine is also extremely low.

      “D3 gives us power to deliver more at less. With the new range, we will provide the best of both the worlds to our valued customers without compromise on luxury and key Volvo technologies like Laser Assisted Automatic Braking – City Safety. Every car in the D3 range has been designed to deliver an overarching promise of being a world full of performance, luxury, sophistication, and Scandinavian style.” He added.

      Highlighting features of the S80, S60 and XC60 with D3 engine are elaborated below:

      Volvo S60

      The new Volvo S60 is designed specially for those who want to have smooth driving experience. For cleaning the cabin air, Interior Air Quality System is provided in the car. Another feature of this sedan is the Volvo Sensus with a touch interface. Safety features of the car are quite advanced. Laser Assisted Automatic Braking -City Safety feature provides intimations, if the brakes are not applied at required points. Other safety features of the car include Dynamic Stability Traction Control, Whiplash Protection and Turn with Steering lights (Active Bending Lights).

      Volvo S80

      For the luxury conscious customers, the company has introduced the new Volvo S80 with D3 engine. Allergy-free drive becomes possible due to Interior Air Quality System and Electronic Climate Control present in the car. The interior of the car has been provided with a new look, which makes driving pleasant. With full wide bolsters and deep contours, the car maker has ergonomically designed the plush leather seats. This proves useful in case of long drives.

      Laser Assisted Automatic Braking – City Safety technology feature is also provided in this vehicle. Brakes are automatically engaged by this technology if the driver does not take the necessary action. To prevent a crash, this technology proves useful. Other safety features include Dynamic Stability Traction Control, Whiplash Protection and Turn with Steering lights (Active Bending Lights).

      Volvo XC60

      Volvo XC60 is the luxury SUV, which has excellent interiors. Real wood inlays along with dual tone genuine leather seats provide a luxurious drive. With output of 163 hp and 400 Nm torque, the car can take all types of road challenges. Regarding the safety of the passengers, the car make has not made any compromise. To minimise the risk of injuries, Whiplash Protection System, Emergency Brake Assist, Roll Stability Control, and Side Impact Protection System are provided.

      To warn the driver in case of negligence in braking, Laser Assisted Automatic Braking – City Safety feature is provided in the car. Turn with Steering lights (Active Bending Lights), Dynamic Stability Traction Control and Whiplash Protection makes this car safe enough to drive on rough terrains. High ground clearance prevents the base of engine from getting damaged.
