‘Colors of Youth’, a Maruti Suzuki endeavor to connect with engineering and management students, has reached its last lap after the completion of the second lap of the zonal stage on 15th February 2012 in Mumbai.
At the Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research, Mumbai, the west zone rounds were conducted. From 8 western zone teams, which comprised Pune, Indore and Mumbai, only three were able to qualify for the finals. Students of the final team belonged to Dr V N Bedekar Institute, Mumbai, International School of Business & Media, Viman Nagar (Pune), and Symbiosis Institute of International Business, Pune.
Other colleges, which participated in the competition, include Chanakya Institute of Management and SP Jain Institute of Management & Research. In Pune and Mumbai, city rounds were conducted first before the finals. From 29 students, 88 students participated in the Mumbai round.
From Mumbai, teams of Chanakya Institute of Management, Institute of Business Studies & Research, Dr. V N Bedekar Institute and SP Jain Institute of Management & Research qualified for the western zone. In the competition, Mr. Neeranjan Nikalje who belongs to Chanakya Institute of Management made the event lively by doing mimicry of famous personalities. The band from SP Jain Institute of Management & Research also performed exceptionally well.
Out of 23 colleges, 97 students participated in Pune round. Teams from West International Institute of Information Technology, Symbiosis Institute of International Business and International School of Business & Media were able to qualify for the finals of the western Zone. Performance from the band from International School of Business & Media was the main highlight of this round.
The company links itself with the youngsters from Professional Colleges and National B-Schools through ‘Maruti Suzuki Colors of Youth 2011’. Performance skills of the students are judged by this competition and a general awareness quiz is conducted to decide the final winner.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager (Marketing), Maruti Suzuki India says, “Maruti Suzuki is known for its vast range of cars that cater to a wide spectrum of customers. On similar lines Maruti Suzuki’s unique initiative ‘Colors of Youth 2011’ promises to provide a national level platform where students from varied backgrounds get a chance to showcase their performance skills. While platforms to showcase academic talent are many but such platforms as the ‘Colors of Youth’ are very few. With this competition Maruti Suzuki is once again setting up a leading example.”
International model and former Miss World, Ms. Diana Hayden and renowned musician Mr. Subir Malik (Parikrama) comprises the judging panel. Along with various exciting prizes, the winner will get a change to own a new Maruti Suzuki Ritz. Colleges from 10 cities altogether participated in the contest. Apart from Pune, the competition covers Hyderabad, Kolkata, Indore, Lucknow, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Chandigarh, and Bangalore.
