      Chevrolet Baojun Heads towards India

      Chevrolet seems to have relied upon its phenomenal global performers to make way into the Indian auto market. The all-new mid-sized car, Chevrolet Baojun 630 Sedan in the C+ Segment is one such performer that is set to make its way to India in October. General Motors owns Baojun brand in association with SAIC, Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation. SIAC also holds a 50% stake in GM India too. The debut car under Baojun brand was introduced in 2011 itself in China, with the title of Baojun 630. SIAC and GM were inspired by the positive response to cars with decent price tags and also the consistent growth of Indian auto industry in the recent years.

      New Baojun 630 Sedan is possessed with an engine that offers displacement of 1500 cc. A 1.5L DOHC petrol engine with single variant, the most accepted form of engine in Indian automobile sector, will be fitted in the Chevrolet Baojun which is launching soon in India. The car has the ability to produce a maximum power of 105 bhp and is capable of offering a torque of 135 Nm. Other attributes that add to its advantage are the tilt steering and the anti-lock disk/drum brakes which are present both at the front as well as the rear end. The car also consists of a 5-manual speed gears. With a wheelbase of 2640 mm and seating capacity of 5 passengers Baojun reflects the well-equipped aspect of the car.

      Along with the striking features that the car has, the safety and comfort features that it boasts of are satisfying enough. The car is armed with numerous advanced features like EBD, ABS, central remote locking, remote boot, remote fuel filler and rear armrest with cup holder provides a class quotient to the car. In addition, adjustable steering & driver seat (manual), electric door mirrors at both end, buttons/controls on steering and air conditioning with climate control are icing on the cake. In addition, the interiors and exteriors of Baojun are also installed with several innovative features like 2 airbags, parking sensors, power windows, tinted glass, fog lamp, rear defogger and folding rear seat. The shade of the car has not yet been disclosed but is expected to carry a standard colour shade.

      According to Karl Slym, President and Managing Director of General Motors India, the company would be coming out with 6 new models accompanied by 14 exclusive variants within the time span of about two years. The statement being made by the company seems to be backed by advanced techniques that would make the task achievable. With the first ever launch of Baojun in China, the company sold 8376 units which is concluded as growth of 18% as compared to the previous year. The future errands when accomplished would add 4 new passenger cars and 2 light commercial vehicles to its credit. Moreover, the car in limelight, the Chevrolet Baojun, is expected to give a challenging and tough time to the likes of Tata Manza and Swift Dzire.
