BMW India, a leading luxury car maker in the Indian market, stated on Wednesday that it will create about 1200 new jobs in the country by expanding its servicing and dealership network, by year 2011.

"BMW India would employ around 400 people by the end of 2010. Up to 1,200 jobs will be created in the dealer and service network in 2011," the company said.

BMW has already injected over Rs 110 crore in its India operations and plans to take this investment to Rs 180 crore by the end of year 2012.

At present, the company has its production facility at Sriperumbudur near Chennai, where it manufactures a range of its vehicles including luxury sedans such as BMW 3 Series and 5 series, and recently launched compact sports utility vehicle (SUV) BMW X1.
