BMW, the German auto giant, has set a new benchmark in the Indian auto industry by rolling out the 25,000th car from its Chennai assembly line. The manufacturing unit of the car maker started its operations just six years back and therefore, attaining a milestone like this in such short span is really commendable.

Addressing the success of the company, Juergen Eder, Managing Director, BMW Plant Chennai, quoted “It is with great excitement that BMW Plant Chennai rolls out the 25000th car assembled in India. It has taken us less than six years to achieve this milestone and I would like to congratulate the team at BMW Plant Chennai for contributing to the continuous growth in production with highest quality standards.”

The car maker, which recently slipped to the second position in the Indian auto industry, sold 4,457 units in the first six months of the current year. Since last three years, the company was the leader of the luxury car segment, before Audi outpaced it. BMW is mainly known for its innovative features, high quality cars and strong after-sales services.

Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW India said, “BMW India continues its success story in 2012 by maintaining its momentum in the leadership position in Indian luxury car segment. We understand the Indian luxury consumer and are confident of maintaining our Number One position in the luxury car segment with an emotional and exciting product portfolio, innovative services and strong customer affinity towards the BMW brand.”

Apart from a production facility in Chennai, the car maker has established a warehouse unit in Mumbai. The plant from which BMW rolled out its 25,000th unit, manufactures 3 Series, 5 Series and X1 models, in both petrol and diesel. The company’s expansion plans for the year is to increase its official dealership to 40 in all the major cities of the country and continue its success story.
