      Indian car enthusiasts are in for treat as a number of top auto makers have lined up their best models to be launched in the hatchback segment during 2013 calendar year. The upcoming hatchbacks will be pitched in across all major segments, from entry level to premium vehicles. Leading passenger car makers like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Volkswagen, General Motors and Honda amongst others, have all revealed intentions to introduce new models this year. Accordingly, CarTrade.com has compiled a list of the best yet-to-be launched hatchback models in the Indian auto market.

      Heading list is Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country's largest passenger car maker, who has lined up a new entry level compact hatchback called 'Cervo' for launch in the country. The Maruti Suzuki Cervo is anticipated to be powered with a 0.8 litre engine and could see Indian daylight with a price tag lesser than that of Tata Nano. Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), the country's largest exporter and second largest manufacturer of passenger cars, is expected to bring its i30 premium hatchback in the domestic market. The Hyundai i30 model will be pitched at a slightly high end clientele than the one company serves with its existing i20 brand. Launch price of the i30 premium hatch is expected around Rs. 7 to 8 lakhs on Indian turf. The South Korean auto major is also believed to be working towards bringing a diesel model of its popular i20 model in the country soon.

      The Indian arm of Volkswagen, a well - appreciated German automotive marque, is in process of developing a new entry level compact hatch called 'Up!' in the domestic passenger car market by end of 2013. The Volkswagen Up! hatchback will compete against the likes of Hyundai i10, Maruti Suzuki A-Star, WagonR, Toyota Etios Liva, Tata Indica Vista and Chevrolet Beat amongst others, upon its launch in the Indian market. Further, General Motors and Honda are also planning to introduce new compact hatch models during 2013, but have yet not revealed the details of their upcoming cars.
