Honda Amaze, the upcoming entry level sedan from Japanese auto maker, is expected to sparkle at the Indian roads somewhere in April this year. Interestingly, the model will feature the first diesel engine from Honda in the Indian auto market, which is anticipated to take on the likes of recently introduced Chevrolet Sail sedan, Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, Tata Indigo eCS, Ford Classic and the Mahindra Verito, among others.
Reportedly, the model has been designed on the platform of Brio hatchback, however industry experts believe that the Amaze is a completely new car on the exteriors. It features a new designed front grille, accompanied with a reworked rear end, owing to its additional boot.
Coming to under-the-hood figures of 2013 Honda Amaze sedan, the model is expected to be offered in both petrol and diesel guises. The petrol version is believed to be packed with a 1.2 litre engine, which will belt out a maximum power of 88 bhp with a highest torque of 109 Nm. Interestingly, the same engine is serving in the Honda Brio as well as Jazz hatchback, and performing a great job. On the other hand, the diesel guise will be assimilated with a new 1.5 litre turbocharged i-DTEC powertrain, which has been derived from the auto maker’s 1.6 litre Earthdreams diesel engine. Reportedly, this model will churn out a maximum power of 90 bhp with a nominal torque.
The launch of Amaze sedan seems to have been quite crucial for the auto maker as it will be the first diesel engine model for the Indian auto industry from Honda’s end. In order to competitively place its upcoming sedan, the auto maker is expected to price the Amaze between a price bracket of Rs. 5.5 lakhs and Rs. 8 lakhs.
