Maruti Suzuki has earned a name for being the most reliable car brand in the Indian auto market. Interestingly, the auto maker has been always known for offering 'value for money' cars, since Maruti 800 made its debut in India. After gathering much appreciation from the hatchback segment, the company tested its fortunes in the entry-level sedan segment, with the launch of Swift DZire. According to its expectations, the model turned out to be a trendsetter among the same segment diesel cars. However, since the launch of Honda Amaze, the competition in the respective segment has become stiffer for the pole position. Reportedly, both the cars have been performing well among the price sensitive Indian buyers and have build on a loyal customer base for themselves.

Taking the exteriors in consideration, both the models possess some exceptional appearance with head turning looks. Being the newcomer into the market, Honda Amaze features a refreshing feel, whereas Swift DZire has been a constant favourite among entry level sedan enthusiasts. It must be noted that both of them are budget friendly cars, which have lured the hearts of Indian buyers. Honda Amaze gets front look from Brio and the rear end gets an inspiration from the previous generation model of Honda City.

Coming to the technical specifications of both the models, Honda Amaze comes equipped with a 1498 cc diesel powertrain, delivering a maximum power output of 98.6 bhp along with a torque of up to 200 Nm. Honda's engine has a small turbocharger incorporated with it that reels up at a high pace in order to offer linearity to throttle inputs. This is one feature that DZire misses out on. Instead, DZire features a 1248 cc Multijet diesel engine, delivering 75 bhp of maximum power at 4000 rpm with 190 Nm of peak torque at 2000 rpm. It must be mentioned here that engine of Honda Amaze is a bit noisy. Certain amount of vibrations might be felt during the ride through steering wheel and pedals. However, the diesel engine of Honda Amaze returns more mileage as compared to Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire, though the figures of petrol versions are maintained at the same level.

At interiors, Amaze feels spacious but it must be noted that its wheelbase is around 25 mm shorter than the Swift DZire. Both the models come with a number of safety features like two airbags and remote locking. Along with, advancements like alloy wheels and USB connectivity is also offered in both the models. Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire gets automatic climate control which is somehow missing in Honda Amaze. Folding mirrors are present in Honda Amaze that have been skipped in Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire. The top variant of Honda Amaze is costlier by Rs. 9000 as compared to Maruti Suzuki DZire.
