Speculations were floating about Bajaj’s re-entry to the scooter market in India. However, at the launch of Bajaj Pulsar Adventure Sport 200 and 150, it was cleared by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of the two-wheeler manufacturer that all of these were baseless rumours. As per him, there are no plans to enter the scooter segment. Also, there are no chances of the famous Chetak brand making it to the market again. The company’s sol motive at the moment is to focus on the motorcycle segment and wants to become a specialist in the same. This might be the reason that Bajaj Motorcycles branding has been visible lately rather than Bajaj Auto.

Rajiv said, “We have no plans to re-enter the scooter segment. The Chetak is not coming back. We are a specialist motorcycle manufacturer. The history of companies worldwide shows that very successful companies were those that focussed on only one thing.”

There has been a surreal growth in the segment of scooters in India that has even over taken motorcycles to some extent. This has kindled almost all manufacturers to launch scooters in the market that would cater to a large number of customers. Bajaj seems to have another plan by going out of the flow. It is a bold step though, as the country is speaking scooters now.
