With the rising enthusiasm among the Indian buyers for luxury sports cars, the German premium automaker Audi has launched its new sports car, TT. The Audi TT has been tagged with a price of Rs.48.36 lakhs (ex-showroom) in the Indian car market and is aiming to achieve supremacy over the segment with this brand new addition to its current Indian portfolio.

The Audi TT embodies a highly powerful and fierce 2.0 TFSI engine capable of attaining a top speed of 100 kmph in a matter of just 5.6 seconds.

Audi India is already present in the sports car segment in the country with trendy and jazzy models such as R8, R8 Spyder and RS5. The two-door coupé, TT will hit the Indian roads by the month of June this year and will be made available as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

The Head of Audi India, Mr. Michael Perschke was quoted as saying, "As this segment is a very niche one, so we are not expecting a very large volume. The total size of this premium sports car market is 200-250 units per year. As we will start dispatching the car in the middle of this year, we are hopeful of selling 25-35 units in 2012."

The company has confirmed that the price of this imported coupé has been determined after taking into consideration the custom duty hike applicable since the release of the Union Budget 2012-13.
