We snapped the upcoming Jeep Cherokee testing in Detroit, U.S. Jeep’s current Cherokee design went on sale in 2013, and the new car that you see in the pictures is expected to serve as the Cherokee’s mid-cycle facelift for 2018.

Despite the test prototype being masked heavily, we expect the new Cherokee to sport a refreshed front and rear-end thanks to updated grille, trim, bonnet lines and a pair of new head and tail lamps. Though there’s been no shots of the interiors of the upcoming car, sources suggest that the facelifted Cherokee is likely to have more features made as standard.

That’s because the brand is trying to push the Cherokee even more up-market, in a bid to distance it from the new Compass. Furthermore, reports suggest that Jeep’s long-awaited 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine aimed for the new Wrangler could also find its way into the facelifted Cherokee. Jeep is expected to roll out the updated Cherokee into the U.S. market by the end of 2017 or early 2018. The new car might hit other parts of the world only by the third quarter of 2018. Stay tuned.
