Mitsubishi has released the third teaser image of the new-generation Pajero Sport that will make its global debut on August 1, 2015 at theBangkok International Grand Motor Sale.Promoted with a tagline “Designed for Perfection”, the 2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be brought to India as CKD unit, and then assembled locally.
Talking about the engine, the 2016 Pajero Sport will be powered by an all-new 2.4-litre MIVEC diesel engine that also does duty to the new Triton (L200) pickup. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission that help the car deliver a maximum power of 181PS and 430Nm of peak torque. The SUV will continue to be offered with the 2WD (two-wheel drive), and an optional Super Select 4WD drive system with a low-range gearbox and differential lock. Mitsubishi claims that the new-gen Pajero Sport will be stronger and safer than the existing model, since it features Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution safety body construction.
Based on the ladder-frame platform, the new Pajero Sport gets L-shaped LED daytime running lights, vertically-stacked taillight cluster with LED elements, ‘Dynamic Shield’ design with the GR-HEV-inspired X-shaped grille, 17-inch alloy wheels and edgy rear windows design. Features like steering mounted controls and 8-way adjustable driver seat will also be on offer.
Expected to launch in India by the end of 2016 or early 2017, the new-generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will rival the new-gen Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavor and others in the segment.
