Volkswagen India is set to launch new Vento sedan in India on September 24, 2014. The sedan has received minor exterior and interiors changes. Among the most prominent addition is replacement of 1.6 litre diesel motor with the new 1.5 litre TDI diesel powertrain. The 1.5 litre TDI engine is basically a downsized version of the previous 1.6 litre motor that has currently does duty in new Polo diesel. Front fascia is likely to undergo several changes in the form of a new bumper and grille complemented by aggressive head lights.

Other external changes such as a two-slat chrome grille, restyled rear bumper and redesigned tail light assembly sum up changes made to the exteriors. High end model is likely to get LED lights as an optional provision. Equipment expected to be embedded inside the cabin include a new multi-functional steering wheel, centre console, revised infotainment system among others.

The new 1.5 litre, four cylinder turbo engine powering diesel variant of Vento is capable of generating maximum power output of 105 BHP along with top torque of 250Nm.

A five-speed manual transmission will be matched to the diesel engine as a standard fitment, while a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox will be offered as optional. In its segment only Hyundai Verna diesel is offered in automatic variant, hence this will make Vento the second diesel powered C segment sedan to be offered with automatic gearbox. On the other hand, petrol powered Vento will continue to be equipped with the same 1.2 litre TSI and 1.6 litre MPI petrol engines. The 1.2 litre petrol variant will be coupled to a seven-speed DSG transmission while the 1.6 litre MPI will be paired to a five-speed tranny.
