Indian celebs have always been in limelight and so have been the celebrity cars in India. Even their small decisions result in a whole 1 hour news show, beginning with a complete discussion to a full postmortem of the story. Reportedly, Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has recently purchased a new Hummer. Interestingly, this purchase was preceded by a similar purchase by the Indian Skipper and wicket keeper – Mahendra Singh Dhoni. While for some, this conveys a message of friendship, while others believe that it’s a newborn competitive feeling. Let’s make a deep dive into the details of this newcomer.
Indian cricketers have always covered several newspaper pages because of their unique love for cars. Why not have a look at some of these celebrity cars in India and their proud owners? There is no better person to start with than the God of cricket, Mr. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. Sachin, if you are not aware, is a huge fan of automobiles. According to several reports, he has a huge collection of highly expensive celebrity cars in India and outside the country as well. His collection includes Ferrari, R129 SL600, and a very rare C36 AMGs and many other cars. He recently added a red Nissan GT – R to his collection.
The handsome Indian opener Gautam Gambhir is also known for his obsession with cars. He made into some big news when he took the 1600 cc Formula Ford car for a test drive. He owns a Toyota Corolla, Maruti SX4 and Hyundai’s Santro. He has a dream to own a BMW model. But, keeping in mind the big payment the Indian cricketers take home after their match winning performance, this dream is expected to come true very soon. Then we have our very own Bengal Tiger, the former Indian skipper, Saurav Ganguly. He has an eternal passion for automobiles. He has a huge collection of more than 20 Mercedes-Benz models, several BMWs and many other cars from big brands, with Rs. 46.55 lakh worth Mercedes convertible as a recent addition.
Now, finally we have the very famous and talented spinner, Harbhajan Singh or as the whole India lovingly refer, “Bhajji”. Bhajji became a part of some large headlines when he got his new Hummer. It appears that he has really fallen in love with his new purchase. He recently posted many photographs of his new car. Sadly, he was fined by the Chandigarh police when he decided to take his Hummer for a drive even before it was registered. But, this didn’t dampen his mood. According to some news sources, the off-spinner decided to take part in F1 race on his Hummer. It seems that he has a passion for sports in general and not only for cricket. He will be the very first Formula one participant to drive a Hummer SUV in the race. Of course, the organizers openly accepted that it is a sort of publicity stunt. With Sahara India and Vijaya Mallya already present as team owners, Bhajji’s addition surely will increase the public turnover. It looks as if his balling speed has somehow affected his choices too. Instead of buying any fast speed car, he decided to go for a slow Hummer. When asked about this, he cleverly replied that it is not pace, but spin that matters. One thing is for sure, if not already, then in near future, we are going to experience a new passion for celebrity Hummers in India.
But, seriously speaking, cricketers’ lives are not as simple as they appear to all of us. After the serious hard work they do and the time they spend on practice, they do deserve this luxury and passion. While Mr. Captain Cool bought a silver colored model, Mr. Turbanator decided to go for the black beauty. Bhajji’s Hummer 3 has a 3.7 liter diesel engine and uses SLA – Multileaf Semi Elliptical technology. Just to add up to the information database, Bhajji also has a Ford Endeavour in his garage.
