      With Sunny, Nissan Motors attains 187 per cent sales

      The Japanese car maker, Nissan Motor India Private Limited (NMIPL) has recorded sales of 3,467 cars in the month of April, 2012. Year-on-year basis, 187 per cent growth has been attained by the company. Due to the recently launched Sunny, the company attained higher sales. Since its launch in September 2011, Nissan sold more than 16,173 units of Sunny in India out of which 2012 units were sold this April. Micra, with sales of 1,435 units attained the second position registering 19% increase in sales.

      The Japanese automobile giant launched the diesel variant of its flagship model, Nissan Sunny, much later than the original model, which was introduced in September, 2011. However, the launch of both petrol and diesel models brought higher sales revenue for the company.

      Nissan's lifestyle Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) X-Trail, premium sedan Teana and legendary sports car 370z also contributed towards the sales of the company. Nissan's flagship model, Sunny, which is also an award winning car is produced at the state-of-the-art facility of Nissan located in Chennai.

      Mr. Ishida Takayuki, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Private Limited was heard saying, “Our sales in April have been very impressive and reflect customer trust and confidence in our products.”

      Mr. Dinesh Jain, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hover automotive India (HAI), which is the partner of NMIL for sales and marketing in India quoted, “The Nissan Sunny has received an overwhelming response from the market and we are confident that we will continue to excel this year and propel growth for all our products."

      He also said that, “Our aggressive initiatives have enabled us to acquire the market acceptance and this coupled with our aggressive dealer ramp up on a National level have been contributing factors towards the success of the brand Nissan today.”

      The fast rate of growth in sales is due to the Nissan Motor's step of launching two new models in the course of 18 months. Nissan is already in the process to launch a third car within a short period. During this time, Nissan exhibited its all new Urban Utility Vehicle (UUV) Evalia at the Auto Expo 2012 held in New Delhi. The car was unveiled by Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.

      Its flagship model, Nissan Sunny is available at 47 authorised dealerships of the company spread across the country. The XE base variant of the car costs about Rs. 5,78,000, XL mid variant comes at Rs. 6,88,000 whereas the XV model is available for Rs. 7,68,000. All the prices are ex-showroom Delhi.

      Nissan provides a standard manufacturer warranty of 2 years or 50,000 km whichever comes earlier as part of its commitment towards the customers. An extended warranty of 2 years or 30,000 km can also be purchased by the customers.
